It's All In How You Look At It!

Have you ever noticed how other people see you different than you see yourself? Why do you think that is?
Sometimes I think we are like actors in a great play, and we often get stereotyped by bit parts we play. We become identified with where we live, where we work, what we have, as if these parts we play are who we are.
Sometimes I think we begin to believe our own press and think we are the role we play and our true identity becomes hidden from view. Sometimes we are lucky and some mirror we pass, some voice we faintly hear stirs old familiar memories, but now you are locked in, no one lets you out of the feigned images we’ve become and we slowly wither inside.
I think sometimes things happen to us against our will, maybe too young to protest and we begin to live a life identified with our pain as if that is who we are not what we have endured. It can get hard to keep separate the events from the person, and with no one to share with we can be lost to facades and masks too heavy to bear.
I am not the part I play in this great adventure of life, however, who I am adds a fresh twist to the script I have been given to play. I have, and do, love each one I am given, and I play them with the full fervor of who I am. I only hope that those watching the drama can realize I am not the part I play, and look deep enough to gain a new perspective on who I am...
